What a Night!: A funny split-page bedtime story

About this book
It’s night time and Baby Giraffe is fast asleep, to the great relief of his parents. Everyone else in the building that the Giraffe family live in is also asleep: the crocodile is asleep in the bath, the monkey’s asleep in their hammock and the tiger’s snuggled up in bed.
Yet, when Baby Giraffe wakes up and cries, it wakes up Casper Crocodile, who wakes up Mia Monkey, and so on until everyone is awake. Oh no! Soon there’s a cacophony of noise, and poor Mummy Giraffe looks at her wit’s end. Fortunately, Daddy Giraffe has a brilliant idea and, letting Mummy snuggle up to get some well-earned rest, he decides to tell everyone a goodnight story.
Karsten’s brilliantly original picture book is tall and narrow in shape, mimicking an apartment building. Using flaps that little ones will love to turn over, we see the domino effect of one animal making a noise on the next one as each flap follows the one before. It’s an ingenious idea, going down the page and up again, and the theme of a crying little one and a noisy night will be familiar to all families with little ones!
