This charming story showcases a child who, for an unspecified reason, doesn't like to talk. And this is fine. She makes a friend and they find other ways to communicate. Yes, she worries about being forced to talk in certain scenarios, but when she wants to talk, she does. Many young children will feel reassured by this.
The rhyming text is very enjoyable to read aloud, with lots of fun sound-effect words during the magic concert. The bright, friendly illustrations feel very magical, and Wanda and Flo are adorable. All in all, a delightful picture book.
