About this book
Mikey is worried about Gramps after beloved Grandma dies. It’s December, but Gramps has lost all of his festive cheer – and Gramps is even known locally as ‘The Other Santa’ after many years dressing up in the local grotto with Grandma as his chief elf.
So when there’s an unbelievable opportunity to try out to become the new REAL Santa, Mikey applies for the job on Gramps’ behalf. Gramps gets down to the final six candidates, so off Mikey and Gramps go to the North Pole!
There, they face a series of tests and trials set by Santa and his elves, including taming wild reindeer – but is everyone playing fair?
This is a gloriously Christmassy book – full of elves, candy canes, snow, Santa, and heart. The experience of reading it is rather like watching Christmas classic movies Elf and The Santa Claus!
It’s a long-awaited joy to hang out with a truly inclusive bunch of would-be Santas. Father Christmas himself has understood the value of diversity and seeks to replace himself with the kindest, most creative person. No spoilers, but this could be a Black Santa with a Liverpudlian accent, like Gramps.
This is a heartwarming chapter book, perfect to bring good cheer to the weeks leading up to Christmas.
