About this book
It’s nearly Christmas and Brooke is starting at a new school, faithful support dog by her side. Brooke is autistic, has anxiety and ADHD, and never quite feels she belongs anywhere. But it appears this school could be different.
For starters, there’s a learning support department and a club for neurodivergent students where Brooke immediately finds a warm welcome. However, it also appears that murders are as abundant as mince pies: within an hour of her arrival, the thoroughly unpleasant headteacher is found dead and more mysterious deaths follow.
Brooke has a gift for puzzle solving, and with her new friends – each bringing their own strengths – forms an unlikely detective team. It’s a race against time (and the police) to unmask the mince pie poisoner before they can strike again.
This is a fast-paced story, rich with nuanced representation of neurodiversity and woven with coping strategies, shared by characters in passing, rather than as part of the plot. Anagrams and hidden words offer extra entertainment for puzzle-lovers to solve.
Filled with humour, heart and Christmassy ingredients, it whisks readers into a fun, school-based mystery that is definitely rather different from a typical school day.
A perfectly addictive festive treat.
