There has been no colour in Dominion for decades. Not since the Emperor and his Necromancer stole it. Now they live off its power leaving the rest of the world to exist in perpetual greyness.

Then a miracle happens - a baby girl is born in brilliant colour which she transfers to everything she touches. But, while the miracle brings hope to a sad, drab world, she also attracts danger and violence from the Emperor's vicious Ripper Dogs who brutally murder both her parents.

Luckily, the baby is rescued by a travelling mage who names her Hope and undertakes to keep her safe. But the older she gets, the stronger her colour becomes and the harder it is to disguise. Is Hope doomed to destruction or could she be the inspiration for revolution?

This classic good versus evil fantasy adventure builds on a fascinating idea of a world devoid of colour and joy. But there's much more to it than that.

The magical elements of the story are dramatic and exciting but questions are also asked about how it feels to be different or excluded and how we react to people who are unlike ourselves.
