Sister, Missing is the second book in McKenzie’s projected trilogy about three siblings who share a common birth mother, but a complex extended family. It follows Girl, Missing, the story of Lauren, whose kidnap has copycat repercussions on the plot of this second installment.

Here, we meet Laruren's  younger siblings, the resentful Shelby and adoring Madison, and see the developing relationship between Lauren and her boy friend Jam, as well discovering ever more complicated paternal histories for the girls.

There is plenty of action, with Lauren emerging as something of a Lara Croft when faced with unassailable foes and impossible escapes, but McKenzie underpins the thriller with debate about relationships – whether parental, sibling or romantic –  about loyalty and identity, and how we come to terms with our parentage.
