About this book
Sisters Meredith and Macy live at the Ivy Hotel where their mum is General Manager. Although they are meant to keep a low profile, they spend lots of time with the close-knit group of staff who are a bit like an extended family.
They also know all the secret staircases and corridors that guests never see. There isn’t a corner of the hotel they don’t know intimately; which comes in very useful when something dreadful happens.
An elderly gentleman is found dead in one of the guestrooms. No one knows who he is, where he’s from or why he died. But when a post-mortem shows there has been foul play, the girls find themselves in the best possible place to solve the murder.
With a classic feel and a cosy setting, this intriguing whodunnit has just the right balance of jeopardy and mystery for readers aged 9-11 years.
In a cleverly constructed and believable plot, the girls use their relationships and personal knowledge of the hotel and the local area to good effect as they search for clues, witnesses and potential suspects.
A satisfying, suspenseful read for those who like a gore-free murder mystery.
