About this book
Luma’s best friend in the world is Timir, a very cute puppy-like creature who sometimes turns into a baby dragon. Yet, when Timir gets the hiccups, purple flame starts bursting out of his nose! What will Luma do?
In the second story in this book, Luma takes Timir to a dog show to compete – but what will happen when his dragon side comes out?
This is the second book in the Luma series from Leah Mohammed but can definitely be read on its own without having read the first. As well as containing two sweet stories about a girl with a pet dragon – The Hiccupping Dragon and The Prickly Tickle - it’s refreshing to see a diverse heroine in a chapter book series of this kind - certainly welcome for many mid-primary aged children who routinely don’t see themselves in books aimed at them. Having two stories in the same book is also perfect for children who are just starting with chapter books, as it means that they can get the sense of achievement from having finished a story rather than having to read the whole book.
