About this book

Princess Avariella – or Ava, for short – is heir to the throne of the magical kingdom of Biscotti. Bored of behaving with grace and decorum, she runs riot whenever she can.

As she is sack-sledging through the palace one day, she is astounded when she tumbles through a portal into another world, known as Camden, London. Unsure what to make of the strange clothing and customs of the locals, she is entranced by a group of children performing incredible tricks on their BMX bikes and is thrilled when one of them offers to teach her how to ride.

When Ava’s cranky fairy godfather, Nigel, reluctantly agrees to her request for her own BMX, she escapes to Camden whenever she can, delighted to be having fun and making friends. However, her carefree days come to an abrupt end when a dark sorceress sneaks through the portal to Biscotti, kidnapping Ava’s annoying little brother and threatening to take over the kingdom. The fearless princess and her new friend Ethan must embark on a perilous quest to restore peace to the land.

Featuring quirky characters, a hilarious plot and funny black-and-white illustrations, this fast-paced contemporary fairy tale is ideal for confident young readers.
