About this book
Demise is the best EVER skeleton guard – according to him. But when a beast destroys the gates of hell with its molten vomit thanks to him, he and his supervisor, Mort, are demoted to looking after Hades’ dog. Cerberus is like any three-headed hellhound – he loves bones – and they are made of bones... What could possibly go wrong? Well, given Demise’s bone-headed confidence, quite a lot – and so a mad, dangerous adventure beings.
This very funny diary is told by the blithely unself-aware Demise, aka Bone Head, punctuated in green font by comments from his frustrated and angry supervisor Mort. The text is also interspersed with many illustrations, giving this madcap adventure even more of a dynamic feel. The two points of view means that readers can choose who they want to believe, thus playing with the unreliable narrator trope in an extremely playful way. This is a clever and funny take on less commonly explored Greek myths. Great fun.
Note: on page 1, there is the word ‘moron’.
