Bear and Bird: The Picnic and Other Stories

About this book
Bear and Bird are best friends, and, like many friends, sometimes one or the other of them makes a mistake or gets cross or jealous of the other. Luckily, though, they’re good enough friends to get past any hiccups or mishaps they might encounter, and get on with the important stuff: enjoying each other’s company and being a bit silly, now and again.
Containing four amusing short stories with Jarvis’s super cute and smile-inducing illustrations, Bear and Bird tells us the story of a picnic that doesn’t quite work out as it was intended to, a day of painting, a really fluffy blanket that it’s hard to move from under, and an unfortunate misunderstanding with a talking flower.
Fans of Jeremy Strong’s Armadillo and Hare will love this set of stories about two friends and their simple yet hilarious ups and downs. Like Armadillo and Hare, Bear and Bird has an appealingly cosy feel, reminiscent of the Winnie the Pooh stories, and provide a safe world where readers can still identify with negative feelings and find reassurance. A really lovely book for emerging readers, or a brilliant bedtime book for those who want something just a tint bit more involved than a picture book.
