About this book
Pick a pine tree from the lot – slim and tall, or short and squat. One with spiky needle clumps, scaly bark, or sappy bumps. So begins this delightful rhyming picture book telling the story of one family putting up their Christmas tree, decorating it and, finally, admiring it with all their friends.
Jarvis’ illustration is absolutely remarkable, and its soft retro-styled beauty makes this book really stand out – especially the Christmas tree spread at the end.
Putting up a tree is such an exciting part of Christmas for little ones, so it’s lovely to see it featured as a whole story in itself here. Clearly, not everyone buys a live tree, but this beautiful and nostalgic-feeling book is still a wonderful one to share, celebrating one of the valued traditions of Christmas.
