About this book
Andy the ant wants to have a party for his birthday: just a little get together with a few friends, some dancing, and some tasty dips.
So Andy invites his neighbours. That ought to be plenty of guests. But the neighbours have no food to bring, so they invite the farmer ants. The farmer ants feel bad for the worker ants and invite them too...
Before long, the entire ant colony is on the way to Andy’s party, and he only has a few dips – Andy is furious! Then, when an unwelcome guest turns up, the ants show their strength by working as a team to save the day. And once the colony is safe, the real party can begin!
This excell-ant picture book from Ross Montgomery and Sarah Warburton is a riot of colour, friendship and anty fun. The story is gentle and builds to a crescendo which children will enjoy, and there are nice themes of friendship and confidence to discuss.
Warburton’s illustrations really shine here, and readers will love the busy, vibrant spreads with plenty of funny characters and hidden details to discover.
A brilliant book for children who are interested in insects, or to use as an introduction to the world of creepy-crawlies.
