Pyjamarama is back for 2022!

Want a fun way to get children excited about reading? Join Pyjamarama on Friday 13 May, when children can spend the day in their pyjamas, reading and sharing stories and raising money for BookTrust.

On Friday 13 May, children all around the country – in schools, nurseries, and at home – will spend the day reading, enjoying, and sharing stories all in the comfort of their pyjamas, to raise vital funds to help every child get a bedtime story.

Thank you for supporting Pyjamarama

The money you raise will help make sure that children don't miss out on a bedtime story and can experience the joy and comfort that reading brings.

Pyjamarama FAQs

Sign up to take part in Pyjamarama and help children around the country get the magic and comfort of a bedtime story – all in the comfort of your favourite PJs.

Five great reasons for getting involved:

  • Taking part in Pyjamarama gives schools, nurseries, libraries, clubs, parents and carers a great way to encourage children to read for pleasure.

  • This year, we will provide some exciting new video content to watch either in the classroom, assembly or at home.

  • By getting involved, you can raise vital funds to help make sure that no child misses out on their bedtime story.

  • A day in pyjamas is easy and fun to organise: all you need to do is to ask parents to keep children in their pyjamas on 13 May and bring in £1 to support our work getting more children reading.

  • Children have experienced so much disruption to their lives over the past two years – taking part in Pyjamarama not only helps you to focus on reading in your class, but also helps the children who are most in need to get a bedtime story.

How your money helps

Naomi grew up in a household with few books. When Naomi started her own family, she came across BookTrust’s Bookstart programme and was told about the importance of reading with her baby from the start. As soon as her daughter was born, Naomi made sure there was always time to snuggle up and read together, and her daughter who is now six, is an avid reader and always has a book on the go. Naomi has seen how reading takes her into imaginary worlds and helps her deal with everyday worries and is amazed how it is also helping her to do well in all subjects at school.

Not all children get the same opportunity as Naomi’s daughter and through Pyjamarama we want to help support the children who are at risk of missing out on the joy and confidence that bedtime stories provide.
