The Pair Tree

Have fun with words and language in this bilingual, nonsense poem all about odd socks and where they may come from.

About Tracey Hammett

Tracey Hammett is an author, script writer, poet and Creative Writing tutor. She writes for children and adults. She was a member of the Southbank New Poets Collective from 2022–2023.

She has published two children’s picture books: Monsters Not Allowed! (a rhyming story illustrated by Jan McCafferty) and Bob the Dog Gets a Job (illustrated by Angie Stevens). Both books are published by Graffeg in English and Welsh. She has also written numerous scripts for Children’s Television. Her short story Bare Earth was the Lambeth winner of the Spread the Word City of Stories competition.

She was born in Cardiff and divides her time between London and Barry in South Wales, where her family live.

As a lover of language and rhyme I am delighted to be part of BookTrust Cymru’s Big Welsh Rhyme Time. As a Welsh learner it has been a real joy to write a poem that includes both Welsh and English.
