Bookstart Toddler and Pre-schooler

Bookstart Toddler and Pre-schooler are book packs designed to help families have fun reading and share stories with their children. Bookstart Toddler packs are designed for 1–2 year-olds and Bookstart Pre-schooler packs are designed for 3–4 year-olds. 

Bookstart Toddler and Pre-schooler is delivered to families through lots of different partners such as health visiting teams, family hubs, nurseries and community organisations. 

Each pack contains two books, activities and games to bring the book to life and get young children interested in reading. You can find more ideas for using your pack below, as well as downloadable and printable versions of the pack resources. 

Each pack contains the books Croc’s Cooking Day and Toddler Talk: Let’s Go!. 

• Finger puppet: Use it to tell the story! Try pretending the puppet is one of the characters, or just use it to get your child talking. 
• Croc’s Cooking Day See if your child can open the flaps, pull the sliders to help Croc make the pancakes! 
• Toddler Talk: Let’s Go! Take the book with you when you go out and about. Can you spot any of the things that the four new friends and their families see on their trip to the park? 
• If you fancy a rhyme, try out the ideas inside and on the back of your pack. 

Each pack contains the books Zeki Goes to the Park and All Aboard: Train. 

• Finger puppet: Use it to tell the story! Try pretending the puppet is one of the characters, or just use it to get your child talking. 
• Zeki Goes to the Park: Take the book with you when you go out and about. Can you spot any of the things that Zeki and Mummy see on their trip to the park? 
• All Aboard: Train: See if your child can use the push and pull tabs when you read together. 
• If you fancy a rhyme, try out the ideas inside and on the back of your pack. 

Each pack contains the books Rescue Crew and My Little World: Animals.  

• Finger puppet: Use it to tell the story! Try pretending the puppet is one of the characters, or just use it to get your child talking. 
• Rescue Crew When out and about, can you see any vehicles that match those in the book? 
• My Little World: Animals See if your child can turn the wheel on the front cover and opening the flaps inside.
