BookTrust Partner Survey
This page has everything you need to know about our annual survey for early years partners. This is where our partners who deliver our early years programmes can have their say on BookTrust’s resources, programmes and support.
Thank you for your interest in the BookTrust Partner Survey!
The survey runs annually between February and April and we would love for you to take part then. If you would like to share any feedback in the meantime, please email [email protected].
The latest findings
We would like to say a huge thank you to the 603 early years delivery partners in England, Wales and Northern Ireland who took the 2026 BookTrust Partner Survey. We heard from a wide range of partners working in early years education (41%), libraries (22%), multiagency settings such as children’s centres and family hubs (11%), early years health (12%), primary schools in Wales (10%), and other early years third sector organisations (5%).
Myself, the parents, and the children love when we get our BookTrust books. They are so excited to take them home to their parents and they provide good engagement between nursery and the parents. We love that when the books are due to come in we have a wonderful visit from the library who come in and read to the children and get them excited for the library.

I think that [Bookstart] is an extremely valuable resource in difficult times. It helps local authorities by offering an attractive way to engage families, contributing to early help, Best Start and school readiness, in addition to literacy.

About the BookTrust Partner Survey
Our valued partners are at the heart of what we do, and we want to hear from as many people using BookTrust’s early years resources and programmes as possible.
Every year we ask our early years partners across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to take the survey to help us understand more about the resources we provide and the difference we’re making together.
We want to know what you think of BookTrust’s resources and support, your priorities as an organisation, and how you feel about reading and sharing stories with children and families.
The survey will take 5–15 minutes to complete and, as a thank you for your time and contribution, you will have the opportunity to win great prizes including vouchers; bespoke mini libraries; and a storytelling experience with an author, illustrator or poet. We’ve included more detail about these prizes below.
Each year, BookTrust works with over 25,000 partners, supporting families and children from 0–13. We work with partners in Early Years education, libraries, healthcare, social care, schools and many more. Our strong partner network spans every local authority in England and, Wales and every local council in Northern Ireland. It is integral to our mission to support children and families to experience the wide-ranging benefits that reading brings.
We want to hear from you so that we can understand more about:
- the organisations we work with
- your views on the support and resources we provide
- what we can do to further support you
There are no right and wrong answers, and we welcome any feedback on our work (both positive and negative). The feedback you provide may be used to make changes to our programmes, but no response you give will impact your relationship with BookTrust in any way and there is no obligation to take part in the survey. Nevertheless, we would love to hear from you!
Cressida Cowell at a Leeds Libraries event, won by the Leeds team during the BookTrust Partners Survey 2024.
Towards the end of the survey, you will be asked if you want to enter the prize draw and will be prompted to provide your contact information. All participants that consent to entering the prize draw and who provide their contact information will be eligible to win either:
- A £100 Amazon voucher
- A bespoke mini library of 30 books, curated by our specialist Books Team.
We will be randomly selecting 10 winners in total, and all participants will have an equal chance of winning regardless of which prize they choose.
In addition, we will work with the Bookstart Coordinator from the local authority who returns the greatest proportion of surveys to facilitate a storytelling experience for their area. As part of this prize, BookTrust will put the winning Bookstart Coordinator in touch with a children’s author, illustrator or poet so that you can put on a fun-filled virtual or in-person event for families in your local authority.
We had a great time with Leeds Libraries, who won the prize in 2024, sponsoring a very special event at Leeds Art Gallery with the super Cressida Cowell.
You can find out more about the terms and condition for this prize here.
We will select the winners from the prize draw once the survey has closed. Please note that we may need up to three months following the prize draw to identify a suitable author, illustrator or poet.

- Contacting you: At the end of the survey, we will ask for your contact details if you choose to enter the prize draw, so that we are able to get in touch with the winners. We will also ask for your permission to recontact you about taking part in further research. Providing your contact details is completely optional and you can still enter our prize draw even if you do not want to be contacted for other purposes.
