Win Bone Talk: the Carnegie-shortlisted adventure story from our Writer in Residence

Win this fascinating and beautifully written book by Candy Gourlay, set in the Philippines in the 19th century: an engrossing read for all children aged 10 and older.

Bone Talk is a very special book. Written by our current Writer in Residence Candy Gourlay (published by David Fickling Books), it's an exciting and sensitively told story about Samkad: a boy from a remote Filipino "headhunter" tribe called Bontok in the highlands of the Philippines, back in around 1899. Soon, American invaders will threat everything he knows and loves...

More about our Writer in Residence

Also up for the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2019, the judges for that prize said:

'Powerful, often poetic writing immerses the reader in an authentic sense of a different time and culture and wonderfully evokes the physicality of a very different place. At the same time very relatable characters and universal themes of coming of age and fear of the different make this a gripping historical adventure. Well researched, convincing and written with respect, this is a book that takes the reader on a memorable journey and stays in the mind for a long time.'

Sounds pretty great, doesn't it? Well, here's your chance to win the paperback for all readers aged 10+...
