Publisher: Orchard Books

Welcome to the sometimes frightening, always intriguing fictional central European city of Schwartzgarten with a map in the opening page reminiscent of many a classic tale to help the reader locate themselves.

You are taken on the adventures of a life time with the Mortenberg twins Felix and Greta and with them encounter witches, befriend monsters and watch them become heroes in their own story. The reader is drawn in in by the lure of gingerbread and hot chocolate.

This is a beautifully written book, enticing the senses with theatre and atmosphere. A world any capable young reader would be excited to stumble across.
