The Tornado Chasers
Publisher: Faber & Faber
Owen and his friends live in a country where fear rules. Parents are afraid their children will be swept away by a tornado or killed by bears.
As a result, children have to be home by 4pm, in bed and lights out by 6pm. They must wear bright yellow clothes to go to school, and have a buddy to walk home with every night.
Little wonder then that Owen and his friends are miserable. They want to escape, break all the rules and get as close to a tornado as they can.
While this is an engaging, humorous story, with lively characters; it is also substantial in its reflection on what is more frightening: risking our lives or wasting them.

This book is full of action and hilarious comedy. It set in the most destructive place you will ever get; the most dangerous natural disaster-the tornado fields. In addition to that, nearly everywhere is filled with hungry bears, you never know when there coming to eat you! The main character, Owen, has condition where he startles easily then gets seriously out of hand, so his parents are safety freaks. Also, this makes extra hard for Owen to enter a new school, but once his teacher pairs ...

The tornado chasers is an interesting title to an interesting book . I do not normally read this style of book , but I quite liked it. In the book , this young boy called Callum is sick of rules that protect them from tornado chasers and ravenous bears so the tornado chasers were born. I think it is a good book and I would recommend it to ages 9 to11

This book is about a kid called Owen who`s parents are safety freaks from not letting him step out his room to giving him bar repellent in a urban area, but secretly he hates being smothered so much he cant even walk out his door but it all changes on his first day of school when he meets Callum Brenner. Callum is a dangerous fearless daredevil who torments him and annoys him but Owen secretly admires him. And did i mention that Owen has a despicable problem that whenever he is shocked he l...

The book tornado chasers is a great book which I will recommend as it has adventure in and good parts of humour in some parts of it. As you start reading the blurb or the first few pages it will lure you in and you will want to read further to see what will happen.

This book is great because it builds up to the dilemma very slowly and is very creative involving a storm and a boy with a serious condition. My friend recommended me this book and I really like it.

It was the cover that first attracted me to this book, it was colourful and funny. I also like to read about natural disasters. I read the book a great deal faster than any other book I have read, because it was so tense and you never know when the tornado is coming. I liked the fact that it sounds so real and you almost become friends with the characters. I would recommend this book as I very much enjoyed the story.

In the beginning, the opening sentence says ''The last sentence i write in my diary, before it all happened.'' When read this sentence it made me want to read on to see ''what happened''. The book is ab out a boy called owen whos mum is over protective and wants to keep him safe,he starts a new school on borrow and finds it difficult to make friends until he climbs a tree and does a great presentation about his grandparent. Until one day,him and 5 other people want to face a big fear that n...

This book makes me happy, it is a happy, funny and joyful book. Tornado Chasers is really interesting how parents are over protective and how it can have interesting metaphors and similes like The characters are the mom, the dad, a boy called Owen Underwood and another boy called Callum Brenner. Owen is 11 years old and it is his birthday and he says it was the worst birthday ever because first he moved to anther place called Barrow where the parents think there are lots of tornados and be...

I really love my book because it's really funny and amazing to read. My book has adjectives, connectives and similes inside. And i really like the front cover of this book. Well the book is about a boy called Owen and his parents are afraid of bears, tornadoes and paper cuts. I think this book is good because i really love that powerful word the tornado chasers. It reminds me of a real tornado in a broadcast. This book is amazing but i would recommend it to young children because it will h...

Life in Barrow is dull since the adults have put in place all manner of measures to protect their children from danger, but when Owen Underwood gives a presentation to his class on the Tornado Chasers, he finds a bunch of friends keen to seek out their own extreme weather. As well as having one of the most unexpected endings ever, this is highly unusual, hugely funny and massively moving.
