The Detention Detectives

Jonno is furious when his family moves house and he has to switch schools partway through Year 7, leaving all his old friends behind. His second week at Hanbridge High takes an unexpected turn when he and classmate Daniel discover the body of PE teacher, Mr Baynton, in the sports equipment shed. Lois, Mr Baynton’s wife, is arrested for his murder, but Daniel is convinced that she’s innocent and is determined to clear her name. He enlists the help of Jonno and budding journalist Lydia, who is keen to get a good scoop for the school newspaper.

Drawing inspiration from tv detective dramas and crime novels, the trio of misfits begin their own murder investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing suspects and even hacking Mr Baynton’s social media accounts. When another member of staff has an unfortunate ‘accident’, they wonder if there’s a serial killer on the loose and find themselves in grave danger.

Friendship, trust, courage and determination are at the heart of this extremely funny murder-mystery tale. Featuring a hugely entertaining cast of characters, the intriguing plot is full of twists and turns, and will keep readers guessing to the very end.
