See Inside the Future (Lift-the-Flap)

Publisher: Usborne

This a really exciting lift-the-flap book for children aged 7, 8 or 9. The author is an acclaimed Futurist, a scientist whose job it is to predict the future and advise on how to prepare for it, so this book is rich and fascinating, using today’s science to imagine tomorrow.

The book is wide-reaching, covering many different areas from transport to cities, space travel, and jobs of the future (being an emergency responder in an extreme strength suit sounds particularly fun).

Unusually for visions of the futureit’s pretty positive, including massive nature reserves by 2040 - and it looks like we’ll be living on Mars by the 2100s.

The lift-the-flap element is satisfying and really clever. It makes this a really exciting read, as you open the flap to discover more detail. It’s the kind of book a child could either read from cover to cover, dip in for a couple of pages, or look at the pictures and read under a few flaps

It makes for a great book for all kinds of readers, so would be an ideal addition to a school library corner. The flaps feel robust, especially for these older readers.
