Each double page spread has a different focus: learning about earthquakes, constructing skyscrapers, coding computer games and many other fascinating topics. All of the chapters highlight the work of a number of modern-day and historical specialists who are using maths in their work, from architects to computer scientists, inventors, climatologists and astronomers.

There’s also a lovely few pages at the end of the book which feature profiles of different mathematicians, from more well-known figures such as NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, to lesser-known people such as astronomer Michelle Kunimoto.
