Lots of Frogs
Publisher: Hodder Children’s Books
Even if you're not sure where the phrase 'as mad as a box of frogs' comes from, Howard Calvert’s story appears to be proof that with a box of frogs, madness ensues.
Tommy Fox is the boy with the box, and he’s decided to take it to Show and Tell. But the frogs escape, and soon there are frogs jumping all over the school. The frogs cause chaos in the classroom and silliness in the staffroom – there’s definitely no more schoolwork being done!
Tommy has to catch all the frogs back in to the box, but one mischievous frog named Frank proves elusive to the end. Tom finally gets his frogs under control, but not for long...
This seriously silly story has a fun rhyme that really hops along. Brilliantly energetic illustrations from Claudia Boldt give the whole book a bouncy feel. It’s sure to make little ones laugh as the frogs get into mischief at school, and when the story ends, it’s placed perfectly to go back to the beginning and start the madness all over again!
