Suggested reading for years 1 & 2: Autumn term

The first term in Key Stage 1 is massively important as children get back into school routines after their summer holidays. Books are a perfect way to spark excitement, introduce new topics and kickstart children’s journeys to becoming independent readers.

We have curated a list of some of our favourite books which are perfect for the Autumn term. We have included books that: feature autumnal themes, help with conversations about feelings, explore cultures and celebrations, excite curious minds with non-fiction, spark passion with poetry, and link to common KS1 curriculum topics like exploring your local area or examining the history of toys. We hope you enjoy!
