About this book

Wrexham Football Club is everything for football-mad twins Danny and Mali. And although school life is very different for star pupil Danny, and his sister Mali who struggles to concentrate and stay still for long lengths of time, at home it’s a different story. The twins spend every spare minute together – playing football, or listening to their beloved Wrexham playing at their home ground, which conveniently backs on the bottom of their street. But life takes a turn when Mum introduces her new boyfriend Andrew into their lives – and allows his very traditional beliefs about girls to disrupt their family unit. With both Danny and Mum charmed by Andrew’s smooth talking and gifts, they are blind to the fact that football-mad Mali is being forced to change who she is in order to try and fit in. Feeling alone, Mali runs away and during her travels she discovers a few surprising truths about different people in her life as well as about herself. In the end, these discoveries empower her to take pride in who she really is and allow her to return to a place that’s always felt like home – ‘Y Cae Ras.’
