We Are Dragons

About this book
Four happy dragons begin their day a little bored: looping the loop through the clouds just seems a little… dull. But no matter: the dragons’ day improves massively when they get involved in a race through the village, then end up dancing at the prince’s royal ball. Wheee!
Next, it’s a quick climb up a mighty beanstalk to a giant’s lair, where an apple pie gets them into some hot water – and then a witch’s lair, where the dragons cause havoc. What’s next for this crazy day of active sky monsters? Or might they be a little sleepy after all their adventures?
This charming picture book with a fun, bouncy rhyme to read out loud references a number of well-known fairy tales – Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Hansel and Gretel, which means either that young listeners will recognise those elements and be able to talk about them with the adult reading, or will be introduced to fairy tale concepts that they’ll later encounter in other stories. This provides little ones with a beginning in literacy and understanding popular story forms.
Corrigan’s illustrations are full of colour and expression with lots of fun details to spot. A delightful picture book.
