About this book
Toby the tractor loves the farm that he lives on, but he dreams of going to space and driving around on the Moon. So, one day, Toby rigs up the best rocket he can make, and powers himself into space.
However, he’s nowhere near the moon, and feels a little sad until Big Red the tractor befriends him and leads him across the Milky Way. Finding other tractor friends, Toby has a fabulous time racing around space, but it’s still not the Moon. Yet when Toby tells his new friends about his dream to feel his tyres on the Moon, they take him there and make his wish come true.
Finally, Toby realises it’s time to go home, and bids goodbye to his new friends. It’s been brilliant fun, but he’s missed the farm animals, and they’ve missed him too.
A bright and fun story combining some of children’s favourite things: space, trucks and diggers, Tractors in Space teaches little ones a few things about both themes, with an underlying message about helping each other and being a good friend. Alex Willmore’s illustrations are bright and cheery, with lots of nice tractor detail to look at.
