About this book

History is filled with fascinating mysteries just waiting to be solved. From missing monarchs, absent animals, bygone buildings and untraceable treasures, this book charts a course through some of the world’s most mysterious marvels. Readers can discover the disastrous demise of the dodo; look for legendary lost leaders; muse on mythical monsters and much more – all while enjoying brilliantly quirky humour and energetic comic-strip illustrations.

This is the third non-fiction book by this author-illustrator duo, and they have once again produced an irresistibly engaging, accessible and creative book that is packed with character. Its content is carefully curated to appeal to children and includes topics that range from ancient civilisations, extinct animals, lost treasures, technologies and missing historical figures. Each section features comic strips that bring the details to life and funny captions and dialogue which add a lightness and humour that will keep readers hooked.

This book would make a great choice for fans of mysteries and historical quirks. Its format and humour make it inviting to readers of all abilities and it would work well in conjunction with history topics studied in key stage 2.
