About this book

In this fabulous comic-style book, readers can go back in time and meet many of Earth’s previous occupants from prehistoric times. Before humans came along, there were all manner of wonderful animals here that we only know from the fossils they left behind. Scientists are able to use fossils to guess at how prehistoric animals lived, but many of their characteristics and behaviours are still a mystery to us.

In this book, Barfield and Bossio bring many of those animals back to life for readers, and tell their stories in an informative and amusing way. Each creature has its own cartoon, telling its story briefly. For instance, the Diplodocus and its habit of eating stones to help it digest food, or the huge teeth and fearsome bite of the Megalodon. There are also special Living Legends pages, highlighting animals that are still around on earth (including humans!) plus a handy glossary and timeline at the back of the book.

Fans of Mike Barfield’s award-winning A Day in the Life of a Poo, a Gnu and You (illustrated by Jess Bradley) will love this prehistoric-themed book, perfect to dip into to learn something new or to read cover to cover, with plenty of laughs and information.
