About this book

There is something menacing in the air, change is coming and the veil between worlds is dangerously thin. Tiffany Aching knows she must be ready for whatever battle is ahead but with all her new found responsibilities she has no time to prepare for the fight. Despite being a young witch, Tiffany has earned the respect of many, and when the call to arms comes she finds herself surrounded by friends, old and new.

This is the last of the Discworld novels due to the sad passing of Terry Pratchett and it serves as a fitting farewell. Despite being the first in the series that I have read I never once felt lost or excluded from the story, although I am sure avid fans will pick up on many back references that I missed. It is exceptionally well written, combining the magical with the mundane and intertwining philosophy, fairy tales and even Churchill's speeches throughout the text. The story is gripping, the characters are fabulous and the whole book is peppered with humour. Equally enjoyable as a stand-alone or as the finale to a great adventure.
