About this book

A splendid collection of fourteen short stories from long ago, when Pratchett was a junior reporter. He has gathered them, added a few history notes to clarify references from fifty years ago, and presents them with Mark Beech's plentiful whacky illustrations and the variegated type sizes to show how loudly people used to speak! Pratchett's tales cover a variety of imaginary settings, including several about the Carpet People, and events in Gritshire, and also feature time-travel, Hercules the Tortoise and Father Christmas.  They are all rumbustious, irreverent and hilarious, and many have rather unexpected conclusions.

Despite the book's large size, the format is ideal for reluctant or newly confidant readers, the print large, well-spaced and liberally aided by the illustrations.
