Sir Percy is throwing a midsummer costume party at Mulberry Hall and his guests arrive dressed as fairies, elves and woodland creatures. Siblings Eliza and Bram Rose, whose parents both work for Sir Percy, help with the party preparations, along with Sir Percy’s great-nephew, Krish. Eliza hands out the refreshments and learns a great deal about many of the guests from snippets of conversation she overhears; Krish enjoys capturing the event on film, using Sir Percy’s old cine camera; and Bram is more interested in sneaking into the maze in search of mythical demons. 

Merriment turns to dismay when Magnus Cooper, a particularly obnoxious guest, is poisoned. Although there are several suspects, who at Mulberry Hall had the means, motive and opportunity to actually commit murder? Readers will love to play detective alongside Eliza, as she pieces together the clues and attempts to uncover the identity of the murderer.
