About this book

Spot's dad has some baby animals to show him, but Spot wants to find them himself. He searches in the barn, in the stable, in the pond - everywhere! - and finds many different farm animals. And then he finds not one set of babies but two! Join in by lifting the flaps to spot the animals along with Spot.

This is a refreshed edition of a classic search-and-find book, in a chunky board book format. It has rounded edges and sturdy cardboard flaps, and should withstand repeated reading. As with all Spot stories, the text is displayed in a large font, and it's short and uncomplicated, using questions and exclamations to keep the child engaged. Each 'traditional farm animal' is revealed under the flaps, along with the noise they make, so there's lots to talk about. Plus, Spot finds some baby animals that his dad didn't know about, showing that grown ups don't always know everything - a delicious message for the child!

Spot is rightly beloved as a curious, energetic child-like character and this story would be ideal to share with a baby, a toddler and a pre-schooler.

About the author

Eric Hill (1927-2014) started his artistic career as an art studio messenger and from there went on to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a leading advertising agency. In 1978 Eric made up a story about a small puppy to read to his son at bedtime and Spot was born. The success of his first bestselling lift-the-flap classic Where's Spot? in 1980 convinced him to become a full-time author, and his Spot books have been enjoyed by children around the world ever since. In 2008 he was awarded an OBE for services to children's literacy.
