About this book

From the moment the alarm clock starts to ring, this little Punk Rocker Poodle is in a terrible mood. Absolutely everything that can be refused is refused. All this pup wants is to stay at home - they don't want to get dressed or brush their teeth or eat breakfast. And they certainly do not want to go to school. This Punk Rocker's favourite word is 'no' and it's being used non-stop. It's a full-on day of rebellion and strops, but then it's bedtime and the pooch decides that maybe a cuddle, a belly scratch and some hot milk would actually be quite nice. Finally in bed, the much-calmer Punk Rocker falls fast asleep. But what will tomorrow bring? Well, it looks like it's a day of grumpy tantrums – again.

This is a fast-paced picture book full of humour and anarchy. Presented as a poetic rap, it cries to be read aloud – to be chanted even! The text starts off in huge capital letters, getting bigger and then smaller at the end of the book, encouraging the reader to change the way the way the book is read – from punk rocker shouting to a calm bedtime whisper.

The vibrant artwork is loud, messy and in-your-face, perfectly representing the Punk Rocker Poodle's attitude and what a day looking after a stroppy toddler could look like.

About the author

One of the hardest-working and most talented authors and poets in the country today. Laura is indefatigable. Not content with being a poet, she has her own poetry choir. Not content with releasing books of poetry and illustrated novellas, she has just put out a collection of twisted fairytales, inspired by Grimm, Dahl, fantasy, Skins, Shameless, Greek mythology and ghosts, called Echoes. She has been tearing up stages across the country for years now, she's been on ones-to-watch list for a good few too. Laura Dockrill hasn't just arrived, she's taking over.
