Jack isn’t happy. His first night in the new house was disturbed by a bad dream about a grubby girl in a pointy hat "Whoooing" outside his bedroom window.

Next morning, on his way to a fresh start at a school for gifted children, he is pooed on by a one-legged pigeon who steals his bag of cakes. He tracks down the cakes, but not until a scruffy girl in a pointy hat has polished most of them off.

And so begins a hilarious and tumultuous relationship between Jack, winner of "Most Sensible Boy in School" (three years running), and Picklewitch, a chaotic, mischievous young witch who lives in a tree at the bottom of Jack’s garden.

In what is fundamentally a "comedy of errors", the laughs stem from the essential differences between Picklewitch and Jack. Picklewitch has a charming naivety that sabotages Jack’s attempts to make new "clever" friends but, in the end, they both learn that accepting one another’s failings and talents is the basis for successful friendship.
