About this book

Henrik Jekyll is a horrible child. He’s spoilt and selfish. He manipulates both parents and has an extremely high opinion of himself. One day, he unexpectedly inherits Jekyll Manor from his ancestor Dr Jekyll, along with a huge amount of money, and he insists his parents move there at once. The crumbling house has a secret laboratory - and a recipe for a potion to become a stronger, better version of himself. But when the awful Henrik becomes the even worse Eddie Hyde, even his new pal Gabby doesn’t want to play. Can Henrik wrest back control of his body and save the townsfolk from the terrible chaos of Eddie Hyde?

A brilliant comic horror that will delight kids. With echoes of Gothic literature including Frankenstein, as well as The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and a deliciously unlikeable main character, there is a lot to enjoy. Short chapters (with brilliantly oppositional titles, such as ‘The Grown Baby’) make for cliff-hangers galore and give readers a real sense of progress through the story. Energetic, quirky illustrations by Holly Swain add to the fun. Hilarious horror.
