About this book
In Ukraine, the day begins for a young brother and sister when they are woken up by Mum with breakfast and a kiss. Then, it’s time for the school day to begin: making pysanky, painted eggs, that are believed to bring protection and make dreams come true.
Next, it’s time for a lunch of borscht – a vegetable soup – followed by dancing, snacks, and then home to see Daddy. The whole family take the funicular railway up the hill to admire the views of the Dnipro River and over Kyiv, before it’s time to head home and for Daddy to read a story before bed.
In this charmingly illustrated little book, young readers will learn some key words and phrases in Ukrainian as well as getting an introduction to some key cultural elements of Ukraine, such as food, celebrations, and notable places.
It's part of the Our World series: these short, simple picture books introduce youngsters to other countries and cultures in an inclusive and accessible way.
