My Sister is a Treasure

About this book
A little girl has a new baby sister, but she’s confused: why does everyone keep calling the baby funny names?
Granny calls the new baby a dimply dumpling, Grandpa says the new baby is a precious parcel that came by special delivery, and Mum says that the new baby is a ray of sunshine… even though it keeps raining.
Fortunately, though, the little girl realises that her new baby sister is something much more lovely than all these pet names and endearments – she’s a snuggle bunny, and she’s perfect.
This adorable picture book aimed at little ones who have just gained a younger sibling is full of cute illustration from Yasmeen Ismail, and a perfect innocent narrator who is slightly mystified by everything that’s going on, but still loves the new baby.
Tracy Darnton takes into account the confusion that might come with the disruption of a new baby, but the little girl’s family in the book are very supportive of each other, meaning that the little girl character has the space to ponder what the new baby means to her, and start to build a relationship with her.
A sensitive, thoughtful book for little ones welcoming a new sibling.
