About this book
Alone on the moon and longing for a friend, Moonie puts a letter in a bottle and hurls it into space, hoping whoever reads it will come to visit. Junie, a Junior Space Explorer and Field Scientist from Galaxy 12, is holidaying on Mars with her parents. She catches the bottle as it passes her spaceship window and immediately writes back, asking Moonie to send her a detailed report of the moon for her latest field guide.
The pair exchange several letters, but while Moonie is desperate to meet her new friend in person, Junie’s fear of social interaction means she repeatedly makes excuses not to visit. Eventually, Moonie resorts to underhand tactics, but how will Junie cope when they finally come face-to-face?
This delightful, quirky tale about intergalactic pen-pals is full of warmth and humour. The comic-book format is extremely accessible, with easy-to-read text that, unlike many graphic novels, is not capitalised. The superb illustrations are colourful and fun, bursting with wonderful details that add an extra layer to the story. Look out for the next book in the series, Attack of the Pizza Pirates.
