Little Snail’s Book of Bugs

About this book
Join Little Snail as he slithers away to meet some minibeasts, bugs and insects.
Each spread introduces a different beast, all of which you would find in a UK garden, such as ladybirds, bees, ants, spiders and caterpillars. There are 11 different creatures in total, or 12 if you include snail!
Each one is introduced with either an activity – like crickets jumping high – or a sensory element, like centipedes in the dark and damp, under the leaves. There are also lovely words to repeat, such as, 'Wriggle Wriggle!' Or, 'Rustle Rustle!'
This board book has rounded corners and sturdy pages, but feels quite grown up as it’s in a portrait format. It would be perfect to share with preschoolers all the way up to 6-year-olds, as the simple text will appeal to all ages, while there is lots to spot in the pictures.
Yuval Zommer is celebrated for his beautiful illustrations of nature, and here each insect, bug or minibeast is an individual. The colours are striking, and also true to life – there are no cartoonish caricatures here.
This is a stylish yet child-friendly guide to the tiny creatures that are so vital to our planet. It may encourage trips to the local park to see what there is to spot!
