About this book
Where is the spotty ball? And the fluffy rabbit? Can you find the building blocks? And watch out – who’s hiding under the bed covers?
This is a delightful board book with a different texture to touch on each spread. From balls with raised spots to rabbits with soft tummies to stroke, this is a delight for little fingers to discover. Each tactile element has been carefully designed to be an identifiable shape, too.
The simple text of question – "Where is my fluffy rabbit?" – and answer – "Here it is!" – leads the baby to point to or touch the object in question. It means the adult can direct the baby’s hand to the appropriate texture if necessary, ensuring that visually impaired children can enjoy the book. They also have the option of running their fingers over the braille word in each top right corner; every object is named there in standard text and in braille.
Similarly, on the back of the book there are directions on how to sign the various words in British Sign Language, so that Deaf children can also enjoy the words while interacting with the book.
Meanwhile, the bright, simple illustrations depicting a range of babies and short, repeated words will engage those children who aren’t visually or hearing impaired.
A thoughtful, inclusive book for babies and toddlers.
