One little dog claims that he can't be a dog because he's not fast like a greyhound, or clever like a sheepdog, or loud like a terrier. He's scruffy and scrawny and not like the others at all. But luckily, they tell him not to worry, dogs come in all shapes and sizes. What really matters is what all dogs like to do. Watch out, cat!

This story is sweet and funny, and a nice introduction to a few dog breeds. The illustrations give each dog lots of character, particularly our flea-ridden hero. The warm welcome offers a subtle message about being inclusive and not judging others on what they look like. This is one charming and funny identity crisis!
