One little dog claims that he can't be a dog because he's not fast like a greyhound, or clever like a sheepdog, or loud like a terrier. He's scruffy and scrawny and not like the others at all. 

But luckily, they tell him not to worry; dogs come in all shapes and sizes. What really matters is what all dogs like to do. Watch out, cat!

This story is sweet and funny, and a nice introduction to a few dog breeds. The illustrations give each dog lots of character, particularly our flea-ridden hero. 

The warm welcome offers a subtle message about being inclusive and not judging others on what they look like. This is one charming and funny identity crisis!
