Hangry

About this book
Evangeline is prone to getting a little cross when she gets hungry, which means that she suffers fairly regularly from being HANGRY.
When she gets up in the morning before breakfast: a hangry little monster. At school, before lunch: hangry. And when she gets home from school, in the gap of time when Mum is cooking dinner, Evangeline is VERY HANGRY INDEED.
Yet, being a rude little monster doesn’t work, because Mum is also a bit hangry. Thankfully, one of them goes to the fruit bowl to get a healthy snack before dinner, meaning they’re both much nicer monsters to be around.
Kathryn Wanless’s fun, bouncy rhyming text in this amusing (and relatable) picture book about getting cross when you’re hungry is full of fun and great to read aloud.
However, the hangries are definitely a real thing with little ones (and grown-ups too) and reading this book together is a great reminder to ask for a snack if we think we need it.
A humorous book about an important developmental life skill: food and starting to understand our bodies.
