About this book

Did you know that cows have over 25,000 taste buds? And that sea stars eat mussels and barnacles? How do sparrow hawks catch their prey? Do you want to know what jobs there are working in nature? This is the book to tell you all these facts and more.

Covering all aspects of animal life, from communication to feeding to learning to the different ways that animals move and sense things, this is jam-packed with fascinating facts.

Hamza Yassin is a naturalist, a wildlife cameraman, and a huge enthusiast for all nature. He shares this enthusiasm in a very natural, chatty way, with lots of illustrations by Louise Forshaw, photos, and fun lists.

Hamza is dyslexic, as he explains in the introduction, and he wrote this book using recordings of him talking to his editor. His friendly narrative voice and the real-life stories of animals he’s known or observed bring the facts to life in a very accessible, engaging manner.

This is a chunky book, but the format is dyslexia-friendly, with clear, spacey font. Animal-lovers – and any non-fiction lovers – will find it engrossing.
