About this book
Wini is feeling excited about her first day of school but things soon change when her bushy tail gets stuck in a skipping rope during a playtime game causing her to fall. She feels sad when her friends laugh and make fun of her. Her earlier enthusiasm for school soon disappears. In the afternoon, Wini notices her teacher praising the painting of one of the other animals that was unkind to her. Still hurt at her friends’ reaction Wini decides to steal the picture. However, when another pupil discovers the painting in Wini’s school bag, she quickly regrets what she has done, but explains that she is not the only one that has been unkind. The teacher talks to the whole class about the importance of kindness and Wini and her classmates learn a very important lesson about how to be a good friend. With its eye-catching pictures and rhyming text this is a perfect choice for any young reader starting on their journey through school.
This book is also available in English, as Wini's First Day.
