Daddy is Cleaning
by Angel Dike, illustrated by Ebony Glenn
Interest age: 1 to 5

About this book
Daddy is doing laundry. Baby 'helps'. Daddy is cleaning. Daddy is cooking. Baby 'helps'. Daddy is cleaning. And so it goes - whenever Baby joins in, suddenly there's a mess that Daddy has to clean up! All the way until bedtime when they have a sleepy snuggle.
This father-baby dynamic is absolutely adorable. Daddy is always smiling as he goes through the day - and the soft illustrations brilliantly convey his warmth and gentle touch. The text is extremely short and simple, which allows the illustrations to add detail and texture to the situation and relationship. This is a picture book that young toddlers would particularly enjoy, perhaps joining in the repetition of 'Me too!' It's wonderful to find a picture book without a lot of text, but which still provides lots to talk about, and also to see a dad being the primary care giver. There is no other adult shown or mentioned.
Simply lovely.
