About this book
Have you ever found a doughnut tree? Have you grown magic beans? Would you stroke a mercat? Would you wish upon a snowflake?
This collection of poems is full of quirky scenarios, imaginative leaps, and funny wordplay. Attie Lime pitches them all perfectly at young children by including poems about familiar things like a mum hug or a classroom scene, or how brilliant wellies are.
And then there are poems about silly or quirky things, like a giant and a mercat and someone who wears all their clothes at once. All of these will make children smile, as there is a lot of humour here, both in scenario and in the word play.
Many of the poems rhyme, though not all. There are different poetic forms here too – acrostics, shape poems, a nonsense poem, and so on.
These would be lovely to read aloud to a class. Great fun.
