About this book
The little girl telling this story enjoys being the only little in the family. Yet one day, a new baby arrives! All of a sudden, the little girl isn’t the littlest any more – she’s the oldest. The big one. The biggest little.
She soon adapts to her new role: as a new big sister, she’s great at helping change nappies, teaching the new baby how to fit the right shape blocks into the right shape holes and sharing strawberries.
But even though she’s the biggest now, the little girl still needs help sometimes. Fortunately, Mummy is there to share a big feeling of her own: that grown-ups don’t always want to be the biggest, either.
Mead and Woodward’s adorable, poignant and heart-warming book about how older siblings feel when a new baby arrives is as warm and comforting as a blanket, understanding that while it’s lovely to be the biggest, little ones are still little and need lots of support. Woodward’s gentle, expressive illustrations imbue the whole book with a sensitivity and cuddliness that really warms the heart. A very lovely picture book.
