About this book
Baxter and Rory are brothers. Rory is active, fast, and loves running and playing at the playground. Baxter likes to take things slowly, from stopping to splash in puddles and lying on his back to look up at trees.
On their way to the playground, Rory initially gets cross at having to wait for Baxter, but with some encouragement from Mum, Rory begins to slow down and see what Baxter sees: the squirrels in the trees, the beautiful leaf reflections in the puddles.
And, when they get to the playground, Baxter has a brilliant time admiring his brother’s daring play, as well as having a lot of fun himself.
This charming picture book celebrating neurodiversity reminds us that it’s good to include everyone as much as we can, and recognise that everyone likes to go at a different pace or play differently. Baxter’s View presents a cosy and happy family, a heartfelt story about acceptance and a deep appreciation of the joy of stopping to notice what’s around us.
